BOURNEMOUTH University (BU) has leapt eight places in the prestigious Guardian University League Table 2016.

The rise, from 71 to 63 in the annual table, follows the Complete University Guide league table rankings from April 2015, in which BU also jumped 11 places.

Professor John Vinney, Vice-Chancellor, said:“This is the second league table in 2015 to recognise the hard work and commitment of the whole of the BU community, and this announcement further underlines that BU just keeps getting better.”

The Guardian University League table looks at graduate prospects, student satisfaction and student to staff ratios among other things to come up with its annual rankings.

Bournemouth University also appears in 23 subject tables with one top 10 placing for Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism ranking 9th in the 2016 tables, a rise from 18th last year.

Professor Vinney said the league table rise underlines BU’s commitment to becoming a top 50 university by 2018.

Top of the table was Cambridge University with Bucks New University at the bottom.
