A MAN was yesterday helping police with their enquiries following a hit-and-run which left a pensioner with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to Lansdowne Road in Bournemouth on Wednesday, April 15, following reports a van had been involved in a collision with a 75-year-old man near a pedestrian crossing.

The van driver reportedly drove off following the incident.

The pensioner sustained injuries to his head and leg and was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment by ambulance.

Police described his injuries as both serious and potentially life-changing.

Yesterday a spokesman from Dorset Police said a 50-year-old Bournemouth man was helping officers with their enquiries in connection with the incident.

No arrests had been made.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, which happened at around 11.30am, is asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 15:145.
