A NEIGHBOUR attempted to resuscitate a Bournemouth man found unresponsive outside of his family home.

Sam Bellchambers died at the entrance to his house on Cavendish Road on Thursday, January 29.

He was found with significant head injuries in the early hours of the morning by a neighbour who tried to revive him.

However, the 42-year-old, who had worked as a gardener for Bournemouth Borough Council for almost nine years, could not be saved.

A police investigation was initially launched, but officers concluded that the death was not suspicious.

The house was initially cordoned off to allow forensic teams to examine the scene.

An initial post mortem proved inconclusive, and further tests are still planned.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, an inquest was opened and adjourned. It was heard that a forensic pathologist had recorded the cause of death as head injuries, subject to further toxicology tests.

Coroner’s officer Andrew Lord said Mr Bellchambers was found unresponsive in a communal porch area of his property.

He added: “Attempts to resuscitate Mr Bellchambers were made, but were unsuccessful.”

A full inquest is due to take place at Bournemouth Coroners’ Court in Stafford Road during the summer.
