A POOLE woman remains in hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries during a collision involving a car.

The 28-year-old pedestrian, understood to have suffered leg and head injuries, is being treated at Southampton General Hospital. Dorset Police have described her condition as “serious”.

She was injured at the junction of Wimborne Road and Bailey Crescent, Poole, during a collision involving a blue Peugeot 206 around 10.15pm on Sunday night. Neighbours, who were among the first on the scene, discovered the injured woman by torchlight.

Police Sergeant Nikki Burt, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the pedestrian or vehicle prior to the incident to please call me. All calls will be treated in confidence.”

A 25-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and released on police bail while enquiries continue.
