A TENACIOUS tabby abandoned on a doorstop in the pouring rain has made a miraculous recovery.

Larry the cat was taken to Alderholt Veterinary Surgery after being left outside a house at the beginning of November.

Staff at the practice feared the worst when they discovered the fluffy feline, which is thought to be less than a year old, had suffered a broken spine and his back legs were paralysed.

Jo Pink, who works as a veterinarian assistant at the practice, said: “He was dumped on someone’s doorstep. There was a note with him but it had rained so the writing had washed away. We don’t know what happened to him.”

Staff said they were charmed by Larry’s sprightly nature when he was brought into the vets.

Miss Pink said: “He was really bright and he was really happy – that’s why we called him Larry.”

The 24-year-old, who has since adopted Larry, said the vets decided to give him time to rest to see if he showed any signs of improvement.

And after two months R and R, combined with a good dose of TLC, he has now made a complete recovery.

Miss Pink said: “He came home with me after five days and was in the cage for two months. He’s very lively and didn’t like it very much.

“It’s hard to keep him still.”

X-rays show Larry’s spine has re-aligned and fused back together.

Miss Pink said: “He has been very lucky. He’s our little miracle.”
