THERE were hold-ups on the A338 Spur Road today southbound as one lane was coned off.
It it believed the lane was coned off by Bournemouth council as part of a major clean up which is taking place over January and February,
The work will include the extensive clearance of fencing and hedgerows and the removal of all fly-tipped rubbish.
More than four miles of old reptile fence will be removed by hand, while a 10.5-mile stretch of verge will be cleared to a height of 10cm, from the edge of the road to 6m back.
The work has to be done in January as the council has a legal obligation to ensure the work is carried out outside of the bird nesting season. Natural England is closely involved in the plans and will be monitoring the work to ensure birds and reptiles are protected.
The council plans to get all the preparation work done in advance so the rebuild can begin in earnest in September.
