BOURNEMOUTH is bidding for £50,000 in the ITV People’s Millions competition to turn a disused bowling green at Winton Recreation Ground into a play and activity garden suitable for children.

The Bournemouth Borough Council-led project, Winton Play Garden, has reached the final stages of the competition and will compete on television in a public telephone vote against one other project on Wednesday, November 26.

On the day, the telephone number for voting will be published on the council’s website and social media pages, on peoplesmillions.org.uk from 9am and will be in the Daily Mirror. Voting lines will be open from 9am until midnight on the day.

Cllr Lawrence Williams, cabinet member for tourism, leisure and culture, said: “This is a fantastic project that will really benefit children in the community, especially those with special educational needs.

He added: “I would urge everyone to pick up the phone and vote on the day to make this playground a reality.”
