DORSET Police are to hold an official ‘surrender’ for unlicensed firearms on dates in November.

Anyone wishing to hand in guns and ammunition will be able to do so from Monday, November 3, until Sunday, November 16.

The initiative aims to cut the number of unlicensed arms in circulation around the county, including air weapons, replica or imitation weapons such as BB guns and antique firearms.

You can surrender your firearms at the following stations:

  • Bournemouth, 8am until 6pm, seven days a week n Weymouth, 8am until 4pm, Monday to Friday and 9am until 1pm/2pm until 4.30pm on Saturday
  • Poole, 10am until 3.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Ferndown, 10am until 1pm/2pm until 3.30pm, Wednesday and Thursday

A spokesperson from the force said: “Help us keep Dorset safe by surrendering any unlicensed firearms. If you think something is unlawful or you are unsure – hand it in.”
