BOURNEMOUTH’S Pier Approach will be lit up as hundreds of people remember family or friends during a special charity event.
Bournemouth Hospital Charity and Macmillan Caring Locally are inviting people to buy a light in memory of a loved one and bring it to the seafront at 7.30pm on Friday October 24.
A minute silence will be held after the battery-operated lights are switched on, which will be followed by a fireworks display.
Barry Wilson, events officer at Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “This event gives you the chance to take 30 minutes out of your day to celebrate or remember a loved one in a very special way.
“We want to light up the whole of Pier Approach with as many people and lights as possible and create a really special memory which can be cherished for a long time.”
Lights cost £5 each and are available from the Bournemouth Hospital Charity Office, or Macmillan Caring Locally based at Christchurch Hospital.
Lights can also be bought online at bournemouthhospitalcharity.org.uk/light-prom.
