SPECTACULAR fireworks displays due to take place at Bournemouth’s Littledown Centre will have a poignant theme this year to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War One.

The Poppy Appeal will benefit from the popular annual event and one of the three displays will be called the Remember Remember display and will be set to music.

The Littledown Fireworks event, due to be held this year on Saturday, November 8, always attracts huge crowds and features three different displays, to be held at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.

The 8pm display will feature a musical medley including The Dam Busters March, I Vow To Thee My Country, 633 Squadron Theme, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.

Operations Manager of Pains Fireworks, Peter Theakston, who has programmed the display, said: “I’m looking forward to creating a special sequence to highlight the Poppy Appeal on what is sure to be a very special night and a chance for everyone to pay tribute to the Armed Forces.

“I hope everyone enters into the spirit of the event and wears their poppy with pride.”

Tickets are still available for the event, which features a host of entertainment including an indoor family zone with Taekwondo displays, Avonbourne Gymnastics Club, Crazy Creatures and Get Set Go Karting. There will also be a funfair, a licensed bar, refreshments and the Heart FM roadshow.

Tickets cost £7 for adults and £5 for under 16s with under threes free of charge. They are available from the Littledown Centre and the BIC/Pavilion box office or call the ticket hotline on 0844 576 3000.
