A DAY centre for disabled adults has hit the bullseye after being given two dartboards.

Barnabas, a Diverse Abilities day centre on Manor Avenue in Poole, received the special donation from the World Disability Darts Association and Winmau on Monday.

Rob Franks, an international disabled cricketer and budding darts player, presented the dartboards and darts alongside the WDDA’s Russ Strobel – making it the first Diverse Abilities centre in the country to have darts playing facilities.

Rob said: “Diverse Abilities is a fantastic charity supporting people in Dorset and as I am about to play in my first ever disabled darts masters, I thought to myself, why not raise money for this amazing charity at the same time.

“By promoting this event on social media, the WDDA and Winmau kindly offered to donate darts equipment to the charity of which I am very thankful for.”

The dartboard donated by WDDA is portable and lightweight – one side has a lower board for wheelchair users and a higher one on the reverse for those who can stand. Chelsey Mills, deputy head of Barnabas, said: “We are really grateful to both Winmau and WDDA for their kind donation.

“It will be fantastic that the adults we support can have a go at playing darts.”
