Emergency services were scrambled to a crash involving a car and an articulated lorry on the Wessex Way this evening.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said the collision happened just before 8pm.
He said paramedics were called to treat the driver of the car. The casualty's injuries are not thought to be serious.
The road was closed westbound between Richmond Hill Roundabout and the B3066 Bournemouth West junction while the vehicles were recovered.
The road was fully re-opened at 10.20pm.
