ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour reduced by a quarter in north Bournemouth in the school summer holiday thanks to a targeted operation to tackle the problem.
Dorset Police joined forces with Bournemouth council and Dorset Fire and Rescue to increase patrols and introduce a proactive approach to identify potential issues.
There were 542 incidents of anti-social behaviour between July 20 and September 10 this year, compared with 718 in the same period of 2013.
North Bournemouth Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Edwards said: “During the summer we have achieved a significant reduction in incidents of anti-social behaviour in North Bournemouth through the use of a number of initiatives.
“We used diversion tactics where possible to encourage young people to engage in local events and with Youth Services to minimise any anti-social behaviour over the summer period.”
