THE Daily Echo and several of its journalists have been shortlisted in the nation's top regional press awards.

The Echo has been shortlisted for the Newspaper of the Year and for Website of the Year in the EDF Energy London and South of England Media Awards 2014.

It is nominated for the newspaper title alongside fellow Newsquest title the Southern Daily Echo and The News, Portsmouth.

Our website is nominated alongside sister paper the Dorset Echo, Kent Online and the Portsmouth News.

The paper also received two nominations for Front Page of the Year - for our front pages headlined 'Heroes', marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day, and 'Killer punch', reporting the manslaughter verdict over the death of Andrew Young.

Echo reporter Katie Clark is nominated for the title Digital Journalist of the Year.

Alex Winter is nominated for the title Specialist Journalist of the Year for her court and crime reporting.

Faith Eckersall is nominated for Columnist of the Year.

Dorset Echo reporters Samantha Harman and Rachel Stretton are both nominated as Daily Print Journalist of the Year.

The awards ceremony will held at the Brighton and Hove Albion Amex Stadium on Thursday November 13.
