MYSTERY surrounds the fate of up to 30 jobs at a factory on an industrial estate in Poole after it closed its doors suddenly on Monday.
Coastal Aluminium Ltd, which is based at Sterte Close, is the main title sponsor of speedway team Poole Pirates, having signed a six-figure deal back in 2012 worth more than £200,000.
However yesterday, when the Daily Echo went to speak to staff, there was no sign of any movement in the building at Units 8–9 Sterte Road Industrial Estate and neighbouring businesses were unsure about caused the factory to shut.
One person from a business based opposite Coastal Aluminium Ltd, who asked not to be named, said: “I would say that about 25 to 30 people work there. On Monday, all of the staff came out of the building and just left, with no explanation given to us.”
Another worker from a unit on the industrial estate added: “It’s all been shut up since earlier this week and somebody came and changed the locks.
“I would say that the business has only been here for less than a year, maybe about six months.
“I believe that they were still only just setting up here, after moving from Holton Heath.
“One minute they were here and the next they were gone, but everything actually inside appears to remain untouched.”
No official notice has been published to say that administrators have been appointed.
Coastal Aluminium has 35 years of aluminium manufacturing experience, supplying doors, windows, curtain walling, conservatories and more. Its website says it has recently invested in more machinery.
