The world's first pier-to-shore zipwire will be officially launched in Bournemouth today.
The high-speed ride marks the latest phase of a plan to revive the resort’s pier. PierZip line is the first pier-to-shore zipwire experience in the world, according to owners Openwide International.
Visitors will have the chance to climb a 60ft ‘launch tower’ and zipglide 820ft over the ocean to the beach.
The ride is being launched to the press this afternoon, but the company has not yet decided when to open the ride to the public. A spokesman said it could be tomorrow. We'll update you when we have more details - and check back this afternoon for our coverage of the launch, including helmet cam footage of what it's like to ride.
Architects behind the attraction produced this animation earlier this year giving a rider's perspective of the attraction
