FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Bournemouth town centre on Sunday afternoon, to deal with a fire at Lansdowne's KFC restaurant.
More than 20 firefighters from Dorset Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene, after 999 calls were made around 4.15pm.
The fire, confined to a downstairs toilet, was quickly extinguished. Investigations are still ongoing to establish the cause of the blaze.
No-one was injured in the incident, but diners were evacuated and a cordon was put in place until the firefighters gave the all clear.
Speaking at the scene, Springbourne fire station watch manager Martyn Rudd told the Daily Echo: “We've been called to a fire in a toilet this afternoon. Appliances from Redhill, Westbourne, Springbourne and Christchurch attended the incident.
“We are still investigating the cause of the fire at the moment. There has been one cubicle damaged and a light fitting.”
Among the appliances to attend the incident was the high ladder platform.
A Dorset Fire and Rescue spokesman explained the number of fire engines attending was in response to the size of the building, not the size of the incident.
