A WOMAN in her 20s was taken to hospital after apparently falling out of a car on Friday night.

Witnesses reported that the woman flew some 12 feet across the road as the car - a red Rover hatchback - turned from Queen's Road into Norwich Avenue West, Bournemouth.

They said the driver got out of the car after crashing into a stationary vehicle and shouted at her as she lay in the road.

He then allegedly got back into his car, reversed quickly around the corner and drove off along Queen's Road towards the gardens.

“We had just spent the day at the air show and had had a nice day up to that point,” said one witness, who wished to remain anonymous.

“Then we heard the sound of wheels spinning and this car came bouncing round the corner.

“I could see the door of the car was already open and this girl came out like a missile.”

Another witness and local resident added: “She was definitely hurt, she was screaming her head off.

“He got back in his car and reversed around there, he nearly hit her.”

He said another man struck the car window as it reversed to try and get to the driver.

Paramedics and police were alerted around 10.30pm following a number of calls from the public.

The victim, who was conscious, was taken to Poole Hospital with suspected leg injuries.

Dorset Police have confirmed a Bournemouth man was arrested in connection with the incident.
