THIS year’s Dorset Plane Pull is appealing for more teams to take part in the Bank Holiday event.

The sixth annual event at Bournemouth Airport on Monday, August 25, has already seen 25 teams sign-up to see who can pull the 35,000kg Boeing 737 the fastest over 50 metres.

Co-founder and organiser Richard Griffin says the annual event has raised more than £50,000 for charity.

This year nine charities will benefit, not only from the sponsorship raised by the plane pulling teams, but from those families who attend the fun event.

“It’s become quite a spectator sport,” said Richard. “We now cater for families with activities for kids, live music, catering facilities so that everyone has fun. Everyone is welcome. This year we will be joined by the Mayors of Bournemouth and Christchurch who will help us to cheer on the teams.”

The Dorset Plane Pull starts at 10am at European Skybus, on the Aviation Business Park accessible from Bournemouth Airport’s western entrance towards Parley.
