ACTORS from the original Star Wars trilogy and Doctor Who will be among the stellar line-up for a charity event in Bournemouth.

Angela Howard – pictured in a replica of the costume worn by the first incarnation of Romana in Doctor Who – has organised Charfest, in aid of her charity Victim No More.

The event takes place from August 22-24 at Avon Social Club, Charminster.

Among the guests expected from Doctor Who are John Levene, who played UNIT’s Sgt Benton in the 1970s; Sarah Louise Madison, who played a Weeping Angel in the revived show; and Ian McNeice, who played Winston Churchill opposite Matt Smith’s Doctor.

Star Wars is set to be represented by Femi Taylor, who played Jabba the Hutt’s dancing girl Oola in Return of the Jedi, and Derek Lyons, who played several roles in the 1977 classic. Other guests will include Jamie Anderson, son of Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson, who is set to revive the TV classic.

Charfest started as a one-night fundraising event last year for Victim No More, which helps victims of domestic violence and rape.

Angela said: “I founded a charity, Victim No More, following a bad experience, and wanted to do something about the amount of support that’s out there.”

The event includes signings, live bands, stalls, a barbecue and a Friday night cabaret. Saturday sees the start of the new series of Doctor Who – and VIP ticket-holders can watch it in the company of the celebrity guests.

VIP tickets to Charfest cost £40; other tickets range from £6 for a day visit to £21 for a standard weekend pass. Under-12s go free. Details at charfest.info
