A MAN has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged shooting in Bournemouth.

A 24-year-old from the town was held after an arrest in Holdenhurst Road on Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called to Jewell Road in Townsend, Bournemouth, in the early hours of Wednesday morning after gunshots were heard.

They discovered that one of the properties in the street had been damaged and a 48-year-old man was rushed to hospital with injuries caused by a pellet.

He has since been released after escaping serious injury.

In a statement, Dorset police said that a 25-year-old man had been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, possesion of a controlled drug with intent to supply and affray.

He is due to appear before Bournemouth magistrates on Saturday morning.

Two other men, aged 24 and 25 have been released on bail.
