A DRIVE-in rooftop cinema has come to the Sovereign Shopping Centre this half-term.

Until October 31, there’s a host of spooky films being shown for children and adults to mark Halloween.

Filmgoers will watch the movies from the comfort of their cars on the roof of the Sovereign Centre car park, which is being dubbed the “graveyard”.

All screenings are free with an hour of free parking before each film starts.

A screening of The Corpse Bride takes place today (Wednesday) at 4pm, with The Addams Family being shown at 6.30pm on Thursday.

On Friday night, 1984 classic Ghostbusters will be shown at 6.30pm.

Saturday will see two films shown with Monsters Inc being screened at 2.30pm before The Dark Knight at 6.30pm.

Casper, starring Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci, will be shown on Sunday at 2pm.

Then on Halloween at 6.30pm, it’s the turn of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein starring Kenneth Branagh and Helena Bonham Carter.

Each ticket allows one car containing up to five people and each person will be provided a pair of headphones which will be handed back after the film.

Peter Ruscoe, Sovereign Shopping Centre Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to host a free drive in cinema for the community showing a selection of classic spooky films, topped off with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein which has such a strong connection to Boscombe.”

Stefan Krause, Bournemouth Coastal BID Manager, said: “Halloween becomes bigger and better every year in Boscombe and this unique offer in the area is not to be missed. This is a great attraction for people of all ages to enjoy.”
