THERE was Asian dancing, bagpipe music and a host of bands at a fundraising fun day in Boscombe at the weekend.
The event, at Chaplins bar in Christchurch Road, was organised by charities Volunteer Centre Dorset and Bournemouth CVS, both organisations which seek to maximise opportunities for people to volunteer.
There was also face painting with Rainbow Arts Dorset and an array of homemade cakes and crafts.
Siobhan Davis, project co-ordinator for Volunteer Centre Dorset, said: "We have a big volunteering awards event on October 26, so we want to raise some money for that, but mostly we want to raise awareness.
"I particularly want to raise awareness of the community credit scheme, which helps people with learning difficulties volunteer in the local community. For every hour spent volunteering they get vouchers to put towards activities like yoga, boxing, beauty treatments and more.
"It can greatly improve their self-esteem and confidence and they are contributing to the community."
