MAJOR sewerage works in Boscombe are ahead of schedule, according to Wessex Water.

The firm is carrying out repairs to the 'coastal interceptor sewer' beneath Percy Road, and expects the pipeline to be back in use at some point next month.

When this is complete the temporary overland pipeline which runs along Boscombe Overcliff Drive between Boscombe Chine Gardens and Fisherman’s Walk will be taken apart, and repairs will be carried out to Percy Road itself, which has seen extensive subsidence and excavation over the past few years.

A spokesman said: "Our engineers have been working extended hours, including weekends, to complete the work in Boscombe as quickly as possible.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by this emergency repair work and would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support.”
