BOSCOMBE'S brightest race will return next month as part of a brand new fitness festival.

The second Bright for Sight Night Run will light up the seafront once again on Saturday, June 24 as runners raise funds for the Dorset Blind Association.

Runners daubed in neon paint and holding glow sticks can take on a 5k or 10k route as part of the event.

Visually impaired runners guided by sighted participants are also encouraged to join in.

For the first time, the race will form part of new event Feel Good Festival.

Helena Sinclair of the Dorset Blind Association said: "We can’t wait to light up Boscombe seafront for sight loss following the success of last year's run.

"We look forward to welcoming runners or walkers of any age and ability to join this fun, inclusive event.”

She said the race will 'headline' the day-long "unique fitness and community" festival on the beach.

"Glow as bright as you can with glow sticks, head torches, neon paint or anything that will light up the summer's night," she said.

Runners will participate in a 'clubbercise' warm-up before the event begins at 9.30pm.

Admission is £15 per person, to include a medal and a goodie bag.

Helena said: "Dorset Blind Association will reach its centenary next year.

"Despite helping around 1,000 people every month it receives no fixed funding so the charity is extremely grateful for the public's support."

The Feel Good Festival, which will take place on the same day between 11am and 11pm on Boscombe beach, will feature live music, stalls, refreshments and free exercise classes.

Visitors can try everything from a legs, bums and tums class to a family Zumba session.

The festival will be hosted by the Dorset Blind Association and YMCA Bournemouth.
