BOSCOMBE'S seafront, Royal Arcade and Chine Gardens all feature on new postcards as captured by local photographers.

During the summer the council's Boscombe Regeneration Partnership ran a competition inviting entries which would "celebrate all the Boscombe has to offer", from its beach to its Victorian architecture.

The winners were Barry Chignell, Paul Godier, Charlotte Horton, Kate Watson and John Wines who will each receive their own copies of the limited edition postcards produced from their work.

The competition was judged by ward councillor Jane Kelly and staff from the Boscombe Regeneration office.

Cllr Kelly, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "The response to the postcard competition has been absolutely amazing.

"The range and quality of the photos that were submitted was outstanding and we had a difficult time selecting the winning images.

"The photos entered demonstrated the real pride that people have in Boscombe.

"Boscombe has so much to offer, from its award winning gardens to its seafront and shopping precinct.

"We hope that the postcards will help to positively raise the profile of Boscombe and the good work and commitment that is taking place to improve the area."

There are 1,000 of each of the six designs available free of charge from several sites in the area including Boscombe Library and the restaurant/bars Urban Reef and Urban Beach.

The subjects include the Edwardian gardens and Murano sculpture, paddle boarders in Poole Bay as holiday makers sun themselves on the beach, and the coastal activity centre by Boscombe Pier pictured at sunset.

More than 230 photos of Boscombe were submitted for the competition via a dedicated flickr page which can be viewed at flickr.com/groups/boscombepostcard.

The regeneration partnership has run several competitions for photographs and paintings of Boscombe in the past few years, with previous entries used to make calendars.
