A CCTV image of a man police want to speak to in connection with a stabbing in Charminster has been released.

Officers were called at 1.33am on Saturday, May 5, to Lowther Road following reports that a man had been stabbed in the leg.

The victim, a 25-year-old local man, was walking along Charminster Road and into Lowther Road with some friends when a minor disagreement broke out among the group.

An unknown man appeared from a nearby garden, said something to the group and then stabbed the victim in the thigh.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injury, which is not life-threatening.

The man ran away down Lowther Road and toward Wessex Way.

Earlier this week, police issued an appeal following the incident and said the man wore grey jogging bottoms and a grey hooded top with the hood up and spoke with a foreign accent.

Detective Constable Gareth Warr, of Bournemouth CID, said: "While I appreciate the image is not of good quality, it is the best we currently have and I hope that someone may still recognise him.

“I would urge anyone who knows who this man is, or has any information that could assist my investigation, to please come forward.”
