ARMED police rushed to a Bournemouth town centre supermarket after a member of staff was reportedly threatened by a man with a knife.
The drama unfolded at Tesco Metro, Bournemouth Square, around 9.40pm on Thursday.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Firearms officers arrested a man in Old Christchurch Road but no weapon was located.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "A 44-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and common assault.
"He has subsequently been released without charge.
"No offences were committed and no further police action is required."
