THIEVES broke into a Poole barbershop and stole a safe in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Raiders broke into The Barbers Lounge on Lower Blandford Road in Broadstone using a crowbar at around 1.30am before smashing up the reception area.

A passer-by noticed the shop had been broken into and contacted the police.

Salon owner Louise Procter said thanks to the help of her family, she was able to open for business on Monday.

She said: “All my family came down to help and put together a makeshift reception.

“I’m not going to let them beat me. I’m not going to lose a day’s takings because of them.”

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 7.37am on Sunday 4 February 2018 of a burglary at The Barbers Lounge in Lower Blandford Road in Broadstone.

“It was reported that the offenders had caused damage to a reception desk and removed a small metal safe containing cash.

“Enquiries are ongoing into this incident and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
