AN ELDERLY man was talked into buying two fake watches and perfume in Ferndown on Wednesday.
Police investigating the incident, which happened at around 1pm, have urged all residents to be wary of fraudsters.
Detectives say the victim was approached in Christchurch Road close to the junction with Dudsbury Road.
He was sold the watches and some perfume by a man in a dark Ford Focus.
The victim paid around £80 for the items.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Please be aware there are all sorts of scams going around.
"We need to make sure our vulnerable friends and family know they can say no."
