POLICE arrested a driver in Bournemouth on Wednesday (20.9) night for a string of traffic offences following a drug wipe.
Upon arrest, officers discovered the man had been wanted by Immigration Enforcement for overstaying his visa.
Dorset Police traffic officers pulled the driver over at St Swithuns Road in Bournemouth at 8.19pm.
Along with an alleged drug driving offence for cannabis, the male motorist was also arrested for driving without insurance, driving without a licence and being wanted twice for failing to appear for theft and breach of a community order.
His vehicle was seized and he was released by police under investigation.
The Home Office confirmed that Immigration Enforcement was contacted by Dorset Police on Thursday (21.9) about a 22-year-old Libyan man arrested for traffic offences.
Immigration checks showed that he had overstayed his visa.
The man must now report regularly to Immigration Enforcement - an operational directorate within the Home Office responsible for enforcing immigration law - while his case is progressed.
