A BOURNEMOUTH man has been jailed for four months for assaulting a woman in the early hours on New Year's Day.
Tashi Tsering, 34, of Christchurch Road, was found guilty of actual bodily at Bournemouth Crown Court last month.
He was acquitted by the jury of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault.
The court heard that the victim - a 22-year-old Bournemouth woman - was approached by Tsering while walking in King's Park around 4am on Sunday, January 1.
There was an altercation between the pair, resulting in the woman sustaining injuries to her face.
Tsering made himself known to police following a Dorset Police CCTV appeal.
Detective Constable Leo Glendon, said: "We are committed to thoroughly investigating cases such as these and presenting the evidence to the courts and jury who ultimately decides the outcome of the case.
“We will continue to support victims throughout the investigation and beyond and I would encourage any victims to report any incidents to police.”
