A WOMAN has been arrested after a car was reportedly driven into the front of a shop before a charity box was stolen from inside the building.
Police were called to WHSmith in the High Street, Shaftesbury after a black Ford Focus estate was allegedly driven into the front door at 2.55am on Saturday, January 21.
The collision forced the doors open and £400 cash and a charity box were stolen, police say.
On the same day, an attempted burglary took place at the branch of WHSmith in Cheap Street, Sherborne sometime between 11.40pm and 11.55pm.
A man attempted to force open the doors of the shop using a bent strip of metal. Nothing was stolen.
A 39-year-old woman of no fixed abode has now been arrested on suspicion of burglary offences. She has been released under investigation.
A 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman - both from Weston-super-Mare – were previously arrested in connection with the incidents.
Both have been released from police bail without charge.
