PRISONERS who attacked another inmate in the shower block have been jailed again.

Ashley Quelch and Kalum Goodall, both 20, kicked, punched and stamped on their victim at HMP/YOI Portland on Saturday, April 2 last year.

The victim suffered significant memory and blood loss, as well as a broken nose and injuries to his face, neck and chest.

A court was told he remembered leaving his cell at around 9am before going to the showers.

His next recollection was waking up in hospital in "extreme pain".

A prison officer witnessed just part of the assault.

Quelch was sentenced to four years in prison, with an extended licence period of three years, after admitting inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Goodall was convicted of the same offence after a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court. He was jailed for six years.

Inspector Tony Burden, of Dorset Police, said: “This was a particularly violent attack that continued while the victim was lying defenceless on the ground."
