A MAN has appeared in court accused of the murder of his partner’s son at a New Year’s Eve party.

Vladislav Pomozov, 45, allegedly killed Andrejs Trofimovics – the son of his girlfriend Olga Trofimovica – following a spat in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Pomozov and Olga were visiting friends and family to celebrate the New Year at a flat in Cleveland Road, Bournemouth.

The flat was home to Jevgenijs Trofimovics – Andrejs’s father and Olga’s ex-husband – who was also injured during the alleged altercation.

Pomozov, of Holdenhurst Road, stands accused of murdering 25-year-old Andrejs and the attempted murder of Jevgenijs, known as Jeff, now aged 46.

A third indictment of wounding Jevgenijs with intent was added, to which Pomozov also pleaded not guilty.

Yesterday Winchester Crown Court heard that all three men involved in the incident had been drinking during the course of the evening.

Prosecutor Nigel Lickley QC told the jury: “At about 1.30am the three men were in the kitchen chatting and smoking.

“At some point the defendant touched Jevgenijs’ bottom in what was taken to be a sexual advance. He was rebuffed and apologised,” said Mr Lickley.

“The conversation then turned to the defendant’s treatment of Olga and their relationship.

“He was known to gamble and treat Olga badly. He’s described as having a temper and sticking to his guns.”

The court heard that while speaking in the kitchen Andrejs told the defendant that if he did not stop gambling he should leave Olga alone.

The victim and the defendant then left the kitchen to go and speak alone in another room.

Mr Lickley told the court that this is where the defendant stabbed Andrejs with a large kitchen knife.

He is then alleged to have walked back into the kitchen and attacked Jevgenijs who suffered stab wounds to his hand and groin.

A statement from Jevgenijs was read out to the court. It said: “I heard the kitchen door opening and heard my son shout: ‘Dad be careful – he has a knife. He has stabbed me’.”

The court heard that Andrejs’ mother Olga went to check on the three men after she heard “a few thuds”.

Her statement, which was also read out in court, said: “The first thing I saw was blood on the floor. I grabbed Pomozov and said ‘if you harm my child I will kill you’.”

Addressing the court Mr Lickley said: “Pomozov then left the flat but Olga went to find him so that he could ‘take full responsibility for what he had done’.

Andrejs died at the flat from a deep wound to his abdomen.

Pomozov was arrested at the scene.

In his statement to the police on January 3, he claimed he was acting in self-defence after Andrejs punched him in the face and “grabbed the first thing to defend himself”.

The trial continues.
