A MURDERER who stabbed a woman 14 times has been jailed for life.

Stefan Mayne, formerly of Harewood Avenue, is to serve a minimum of 27 years behind bars after he was convicted of the murder of Jennifer Williams.

The defendant, 27, bought three knives at a branch of Tesco Express on June 19 last year.

The following day, he had a planned appointment with Miss Williams, who worked as a sex worker, at her home in Colehill Crescent.

There, Mayne stabbed her 14 times, but the 25-year-old managed to escape onto the street where she collapsed in front of neighbours.

Mayne attempted to run away but was tackled to the ground by Nicholas Langlois, who had been attending a child's party with his family at a nearby home.

He was pinned down feet away from where his victim lay.

Witnesses said Miss Williams raised her head to look at Mayne before asking: "Why did you do it?

"I ******* hate you."

Miss Williams died in the early hours of June 21 2015 at Poole Hospital despite major surgery.

Mayne told jurors he had no memory of knifing Miss Williams, but accepted he had inflicted the injuries upon her.

However, police investigators found a file named 'Violence' on his laptop that featured 67 video clips of women being shot and stabbed.

He had also searched for travel departing from the Bournemouth area on June 21.

Judge Jane Miller QC said: "You were clearly obsessed with the idea of stabbing women in the stomach."

The judge said there was a "significant degree" of planning.

"Miss Williams must have suffered both great terror and great pain," she said.

"It is clear that she realised after the event that she had been very badly injured and would likely die."

She praised Miss Williams' courage, as well as the bravery of Mr Langlois in restraining Mayne.

Detective Inspector Mark Samuel of Dorset Police praised the "heroic actions" of members of the public who helped.

"This was an extraordinarily violent attack and it is hard to imagine the distress Jennifer Williams went through," he added.
