A man has been found dead on a road in Poole.

Police were called at 3am on Monday morning after the body of a man was found in Surrey Road near the Bourne Valley roundabout.

The man has not been identified so next of kin have not been informed.

Bournemouth Echo:

Surrey Road was closed at the Bourne Valley roundabout and Yarmouth Road was closed at the junction with Wroxham Road to allow police to investigate the scene.

One resident said: "I came out at 5.30am to walk the dog and saw the police and the cordon, but I didn't know what had happened."

The coroner has been notified.

A resident who lives near the scene told the Daily Echo: "I was woken by a commotion around 3am. I looked out of my bedroom window and saw a man lying in the road. There were a number of people around him.

"It looked like there was a bike propped up against the wall. But I don't know if that belonged to him or not.

"He didn't appear to be moving. A short time later the police and ambulance arrived.

"The whole thing was quite a shock."

The man said a number of cars had stopped to help but he didn't see the incident itself.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident however, the circumstances surrounding the man’s death is not believed to be suspicious.
