A MAN was left with a fractured jaw and a cut eye after what police are describing as a serious assault near a Bournemouth night club.
Detective are appealing for witnesses following the incident, details of which they released on Friday.
It happened between 1.45am and 2.15am on Sunday, October 11.
The victim, a 48-year-old man from Kingston Upon Thames in Surrey, left the Cameo Club in Fir Vale Road after a night out with friends.
Shortly afterwards, police said, he was attacked from behind.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said the man did not remember anything more about the incident.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to a fractured jaw and a cut to his left eye.
Detective Constable Mark Holmes, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a particularly cowardly attack. Fir Vale Road would have been busy at the time and it is likely a number of people would have witnessed the incident.
“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or has information about who may have been responsible to please call Dorset Police on 101.
“While the incident was reported to police on Sunday, October 11, the victim wasn’t in a position to speak to officers until this week.”
