NORTH Dorset residents have been called by scammers claiming to represent the district council.
The scammers have reportedly contacted residents requesting their personal information, saying their details had been passed on by the NHS in connection with an accident.
Councillor Andrew Kerby, North Dorset District Council’s portfolio holder for community safety, said: "We have received reports of a telephone scam where people have been asked to give out details over the phone.
"The district council has not phoned any residents asking for such details.
"I would encourage residents not to give out personal details over the phone and to remain vigilant, and if possible, keep a close eye on vulnerable older family members or neighbours."
Suspected telephone scams can be reported to the police by calling 101.
