POLICE are appealing to the public after a property in Bournemouth was burgled.

Several items of jewellery were stolen from the Littledown Avenue home, at some time between 10.30pm on Friday and 7am the following morning.

Two watches, an iPad belonging to the victim's late husband and an MBE crest which belonged to his grandfather were taken, as were a tanzanite and diamond platinum ring, a diamond engagement ring and a blue Asscher cut sapphire, which was given to the victim - a woman in her 40s - by her husband on their 10th wedding anniversary just before he passed away this year.

DC Matthew Stacey, of Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said: “This is a particularly traumatic time for the victim, who recently lost her husband.

“Many of the stolen objects hold a great deal of sentimental value and we are asking for the public’s help to find them.

“The stolen possessions are very specific and, in some cases, unique and I am releasing images of some of them in hope that they will be recognised if come across.

“I am appealing to the public to look out for these items that might be put up for sale online or locally.

“Anyone with information should contact me, in confidence, on 101.”

No arrests have yet been made.
