AN alleged victim of child sex offences confronted his 'attacker' when he saw him in the street more than 30 years later, a court heard.

He followed the man through the streets of Boscombe before calling his name and alerting police, Bournemouth Crown Court was told.

Jurors watched videos of the alleged victim being interviewed by police as he struggled to explain what had happened to him around 1980.

He told how Michael Jalland, pictured, used to hang around Kings Park while he and other boys played football and befriended them.

The man initially reported one incident of indecent assault, when Jalland allegedly assaulted him after taking him to a nearby flat to get a drink when he was about 11 years old.

Several weeks after reporting the alleged offence to police, the alleged victim, who cannot be named, said he started having flashbacks.

He told police that he remembered a second offence, said to have taken place when Jalland took him to a cricket match.

During interview the alleged victim said Jalland was good at football and used to watch the boys playing every day during school holidays.

“We all saw him as a nice guy. I had seen him so often I considered him to be safe.”

The alleged victim told the court he had seen an article about Jalland in the Daily Echo several years ago relating to other matters.

He added: “It has been buried deep. I feel angry and guilty that I had not come forward and maybe stopped him.”

Jalland, 61, of Belle Vue Road, Southbourne, denies three offences of indecent assault on a male person between January 1, 1979 and December 31, 1980.

The trial continues.
