A MAN has appeared at court charged with making more than 150,000 indecent images of children.

Clifford Thomas, of Ropers Lane in Wareham, was brought before magistrates in Bournemouth yesterday morning accused of 12 counts of possessing indecent images, and four of making indecent images of a child.

It is alleged that the 34-year-old had both still and moving images in his possession.

The charges relate to dates between January and June 2013, and the four charges of making indecent images of a child refer to a total of 159,401 still and moving images - 40,564 in count 13, 62 in count 14, 54 in count 15 and 118,721 in count 16.

Thomas, who has not yet entered a plea to any of the charges against him, is due to appear again at Bournemouth Crown Court for a preliminary hearing in June.

He is on unconditional bail.

A charge of 'making' indecent images of children refers to the downloading or printing of such images from the internet.
