Police are appealing for information following a robbery at a car park in the New Forest.

A couple stopped off at Anderwood car park on Lyndhurst Road in Burley between 1.20pm and 1.40pm, Wednesday, April 8 and took a short walk.

As the victim’s husband was distracted with their young daughter, a cyclist snatched her handbag and cycled off.

The suspect is described as a white man wearing a black top and blue Bermuda-style shorts and a blue cycle helmet. He rode a matt grey mountain bike.

He got away with a black handbag containing a wallet, iPhone with a flower love heart design on it, a small paisley blue make-up bag and cash and bank cards.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, saw a cyclist matching this description in the area at the time or who may have come across any of the stolen items.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Simon Hitchcock at Southampton central police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
