SEVEN people have been arrested in Poole as part of an ongoing police investigation into burglary and theft offences.

Officers carried out warrants at six addresses in the Hamworthy area today and arrested six men, aged between 20 and 43, and one woman, aged 41, on suspicion of conspiracy to steal.

The suspects, who are all from Poole, are currently helping police with their enquires.

Detective Inspector Andy Dilworth, of Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said: “As part of our ongoing investigation we have uncovered a number of power tools and are keen to find the owners.

“I would urge anyone in Dorset who has had such items stolen from their sheds, garages or vehicles since September this year and has not reported it to Dorset Police to get in contact by calling 101 quoting incident number 3:49.”

Urging members of the public to protect themselves and their property, DI Dilworth added: “Ensure valuables, electrical items and tools are left in a locked and secure place and, if possible, remove all items from vehicles overnight. I would also urge people to ensure they mark their valuables and tools. Don’t make things easy for thieves.

“My final message to the public is – do not be complacent. If you see someone acting suspiciously in your area, please call us on 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress so we can send officers and investigate.”
