THIS picture shows what Bournemouth’s first overnight stay beach huts will look like – but how much you’ll have to pay to rent one remains a mystery.

The 15 huts will be built in Southbourne early next year and offered for short stay holiday rental accommodation all year round.

Each will be able to accommodate up to six people and will have an internal shower, toilet and wash basin and a kitchen area with an electric hob, fridge and microwave.

All huts will have full width French doors opening out onto a private decking area, access to wifi and a dedicated parking space.

Bournemouth council said the huts should be available to rent from next May but has not yet released details as to how much they will cost.

Cllr Lawrence Williams, inset, said: “The overnight stay beach huts are an exciting new venture which will create tourism opportunities, attract investment and raise the profile of Southbourne as a destination of the south coast.

“This new holiday accommodation will be perfect for those who are eager to stay at a stunning seafront base where they will discover golden beaches and the delights of Southbourne.”

At the last Bournemouth cabinet meeting, Cllr Anne Filer, pictured, said the introduction of the huts was a “bold and exciting” initiative.

“How exciting to have overnight sleeping in Southbourne,” she said. “It’s going to be a great generator of money and interest and life down on the beach.”
