Updated: Star Trek sequel teaser trailer arrives online - or does it?

OK, we admit it, we were fooled. A trailer entitled 'Star Trek 2 teaser trailer' surfaced on the internet recently and we thought it was the real deal.

The 70 second trailer is so impressive in fact that it's already clocked up over 470,000 views on YouTube.

A follow-up to the 2009 blockbuster WILL land in cinemas on May 17 next year but as yet there are still no official previews available.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, and Bruce Greenwood return for the sequel, which is directed by JJ Abrams.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is set to make his debut as the as-yet-unidentified villain.

The movie is the second in the franchise to be released in IMAX 3D format.

Hate to burst your bubble guys but this is a fan made trailer - it even says so on the youtube description! Principal photography only wrapped up last month, no way could they get a teaser trailer out that quick, especially for a film a year away. Do some research first.
