3D: What do you think of it?

UP until I went to see Avatar, the only experience I’d had of 3D was at the theme parks in Florida.

When Avatar came out, there was no question that I was going to see the 3D version, which I think was the right decision for that particular film, but of course it’s all personal choice.

Figures for James Cameron’s blockbuster at the end of January showed that Avatar’s 3D presentations accounted for 72 per cent of its total gross.

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland recently broke the UK record with the highest ever debut for a 3D movie in the UK, raking in over £10 million and surpassing Avatar’s £8.5 million.

I have friends that only want to see their films in 2D, and I know other people that will go and see a film in 2D and 3D to compare and contrast.

Some people find 3D gimmicky and get distracted by elements that float out to the edge of the screen, whereas others find it utterly absorbing.

So, we’re after your experiences of 3D. Do you like it? Or do you feel it adds nothing and always go to watch films in 2D?

Which films have you seen in 3D that have really impressed you and which ones didn't you like? Will you be disappointed if Bournemouth’s IMAX doesn’t get reopened?

3D cinema is awesome and generates new life into an old media, however it has to be right for the film, showing something like When Harry Met Sally in 3D wont work, the other thing is you dont need an IMAX anymore to see these films in 3D.
