A NEW photography showcase has been launched in Bournemouth.

Called Bodak (see what they did there?) it's intended to showcase local amateur photographers.

It's going to be held at the Winchester Pub once a month, showcasing the work of four photographers every time.

Organizer Beth Rose is a local photographer who saw a gap in the market - she says Bournemouth really has nothing to offer like this.

More than 90 people went to the first event, on Wednesday, and Beth and spospor Tony Marsh, of Shoot Studios, are positive this event will grow.

After five monthly heats there will be a final, with the winner getting a photography masterclass / weekend with Shoot Studios & Andy Scazybrook.

The winner this month was Spencer Brown - also a member of the Echo's 2010 Echo Year Flickr group - for his seascape/landscape work. We've added some of his images below.

There's a Facebook page for Bodak here.
