Forget stupid arguments, let's concentrate on what really matters

Posted on 4:20pm Tuesday 9th March 2010

Cycling on the promenade is a wonderful way to get about and it's a fantastic place to be. I love watching the sunrise or sunset as I cycle along the seafront in the mornings or evenings.

Talbot Avenue? There's no such thing as a dangerous road

Posted on 10:13am Tuesday 2nd March 2010

THERE is no such thing as a dangerous road. The stretch of tarmac and the road markings that make up Talbot Avenue and the roundabouts associated with it do not present a danger to anyone in themselves.

Wessex Way speed limit and Slades Farm: It's all good news for cyclists!

Posted on 1:00pm Monday 22nd February 2010

I'VE been reading a couple of stories and their associated comments with great interest over the last couple of weeks. Both are fairly controversial for their own reasons and by giving my own opinion on these two topics I realise that I will get some people agreeing with me and some disagreeing.

Posted on 3:00pm Monday 15th February 2010

DID you know that as well as being kinder to the environment, more fun and, in some cases, cheaper that travelling by car, it's also quicker by bicycle!

Random abuse

CYCLISTS are a fairly mixed bunch, one thing you can be sure of is that just because someone is riding a bicycle doesn't mean they are a nice person!

Me vs Mother Nature

Posted on 1:05pm Monday 1st February 2010

I'M PLAYING a game with Mother Nature at the moment, I don't think she's out to get me, in fact we get on pretty well; we are basically trying to outwit each other.

Roll on Summer!

Posted on 12:42pm Monday 18th January 2010

THAT'S it; I have officially had enough of winter! I'm sure I'll get over it in a few days but I'm fed up with the amount of kit I have to wear and the time spent recharging batteries for my lights. However there are two particular things that are really making me a grumpy old man!

Ice Ice Baby!

AS I sit here typing, I have a rather large bruise making its presence felt on my right buttock!

Happy New Year!

Posted on 4:26pm Monday 4th January 2010

LIKE a lot of people at this time of year I think about setting some resolutions, but this year I have realised that my recurring theme of surfing more, cycling more and getting fitter aren't actually resolutions, they're just a wish list of some things I would like to do over the coming year.

Shiver me timbers!

Posted on 10:27am Monday 21st December 2009

BLIMEY, it's cold! I like extremes of weather; I see them as challenging and interesting. I did mention a few weeks ago that there's no such thing as bad weather and I do stand by that for the most part; the only weather I'm really not keen on is wind. When it's windy it can just be a pain to do the things I like to do.

Cyclists take note: it's winter!

Posted on 11:01am Monday 14th December 2009

Some cyclists refer to this time of year as silly season, it's a reference to the fact that a large number of motorists seem to struggle with the fact that it's dark in the mornings and evenings and they seem unable to pay attention to anything outside of their little warm metal cocoon.
