This year's Bournemouth Air Festival promises to be an assault on the senses - with more jet aircraft set to display than on any previous occasion.

The event, the UK's biggest air festival, will be officially taking off at the end of August - and organisers have prepared for hundreds of thousands of spectators across the four days.

What's new?

There will be first-time appearances from the Strikemaster Pair, the historic Blenheim Bomber, and a special six heritage jet flypast.

There will also be a special Vintage Sunday event being held for the 10th anniversary.

This will include the heritage jet flypast including the Great War Display Team taking to the skies over Bournemouth for the first time.

Music

This year's live Night Air music includes a Thursday night performance by Rooster, one of the south coast's favourite party bands.

Sam Merrick & The Nick Ross Orchestra will be appearing on Friday.

Leading Stevie Wonder tribute act, The Wonderland, will be at the Bournemouth music stage on the Saturday night.

More music and evening entertainment is set for the Wave 105 beach area and the festival's Immense Air Aerobar.

Night time 

Family festival entertainment is scheduled for the Lower Gardens, from 6pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

There will be displays from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines are set for East Overcliff, from 6pm on the Friday and Saturday.

Don't miss the Royal Marines band Collingwood, who will perform in the Lower Gardens bandstand at 8pm on the Thursday evening.

Fireworks displays will also be on Friday and Saturday nights.

Vintage Sunday

With the organisers of Shake and Stir Festival, the Air Festival presents Very Vintage Sunday.There will be vintage aircraft in the skies and cars on the ground as well as dancing and family fun for everyone.

Stalls

With around 1.5 miles of traders and stalls between the Piers and East Overcliff, there will be something to suit all appetites and tastes.

There will also be the Immense Air Aerobar with music, food, and a great spot to watch the displays and night time entertainment.
